We want to give a huge THANK YOU to Best Ambulance and The Tea Shack for donating our grand prizes for this year's WV General Summative Assessment! We have a total of 6 bikes, 5 scooters, and 2 skateboards! WOW! Students' names will be entered into the grand prize drawings each day of testing for meeting the following criteria:
1. Be On Time (Must be IN YOUR SEAT by 8:40 each morning)
2. Work Hard (Take your time, use your scratch paper when necessary, use the built-in tools)
3. No Disruptions (Stay quiet, stay in your seat, don't disrupt others who may still be working)
We will also have daily cash drawings for students who meet that criteria! Grand prize drawings will be on Monday!
Raleigh County Teachers, Thank You for your dedication and all you do.
We appreciate you!
Ghent Elementary's attendance increased by 4.066% in the 8th month of school! We had the largest increase in the county! Way to ROAR, Lions!!
Our Read-A-Thon is scheduled for May 20! All sponsor forms and donations are due May 18. See flyer for more details.
Bus 267 left the school property about five minutes ago. I'm sorry I forgot to send an update!
Bus 233 is currently loading students at GES.

Our Read-A-Thon is scheduled for May 20! Our students look forward to this day every year! To help us out, we are looking for donations of 8 oz. bottles of water for students to stay hydrated while they read. We need 180, but if we get more, we will use them on Field Day (May 29)! Again, if you are able to donate, we prefer the small, 8 oz. bottles. Thank you!
Come cheer on Ghent's Run Club during the Elementary Run Race at Little Beaver on May 12! Our kiddos have been working hard and improving each week!
One of our favorite things about Ghent Elementary is that we're a community school! We love opening our playgrounds and fields after school hours to the community to play and exercise. Please help us keep our facilities and grounds in top shape! We've recently had some joyriders tearing up our grass in our upper field. Talk to your kids about respecting the property so we can keep it a safe, fun, and beautiful place for our students and community! Thank you!
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is a 3 hr. early dismissal. GES students will be dismissed at 12:20pm. There will be NO after school care!
Spring Photo orders are due first thing tomorrow morning! (Tuesday, April 21)
Congratulations to Ghent Elementary Teacher of the Year and Raleigh County Schools Finalist, Tara Dillion! We're proud to call you a Lion! Thank you for all you do for our Lion Pride!

We are extending our donation drive for Logan Elementary to April 24th, and we are making it a competition! The grade level with the most items gets a full 30 minutes of extra recess. Second place gets 15 extra minutes. Third place gets 5 extra minutes.
Example: One 12-pk of pencils counts as ONE item.
Help us show LES that we have a big heart!

Logan Elementary School (LES) needs our help. Their school recently caught fire and burned. We are collecting school supplies for the students at LES. Our goal is to have so much it blows their socks off! Please donate #2 pencils, crayons, highlighters, and colored pencils by April 16, next Thursday!! Challenge your friends and neighbors! Let's show them how much we care! Organized by Ghent Elementary Lion Leaders.
