Next week is SSHS Homecoming Spirit Week at Ghent Elementary! Monday (9/23): Wear camou or animal print Tuesday (9/24): Wear GES colors! Home games tonight at 6 & 7 Wednesday (9/25): Wear your wackiest outfit! Thursday (9/26): Wear SSHS colors! Homecoming parade starts at 5. Friday (9/27): Wear your grade level's color from head to toe! Grade Level Colors: PK: Red, K: Blue, 1st: Yellow, 2nd: Green, 3rd: Purple, 4th: Orange, 5th: Black & White

Make Up Pictures are scheduled for September 24. If your child missed pictures earlier this month, please make sure they are on time for school on the 24th to get their picture made! Sports pictures will also be September 24! Make sure athletes come to school with their uniforms and shoes.

Don't forget that today is HAT DAY! Wear your favorite school-appropriate hat for just $1! All proceeds go toward 5th Grade.

Today is our first day Ice Cream Day! Students may purchase ice cream for $1. All proceeds go towards the Ghent Elementary General Fund. No orders will be accepted after 9:00am.

Fall pictures are scheduled for September 5! All students in PK-5 will have the opportunity to have their picture taken. Order forms have been sent home. Sports pictures will be rescheduled due to uniform issues. We will let you know as soon as possible the date for the reschedule.

Due to traffic, buses will be running late this evening. I anticipate their arrival to GES around 3:30, but I will try to update you ASAP!

School Picture Day is September 5! All students will have their picture taken. We will also be doing Sports Pictures the same day. Picture order forms went home last week (Pre-K forms will go home this week).

This is a reminder that if you did not turn in your child's permission slip, physical, and CERP documentation, you must bring those to try-outs this afternoon. I have several students who are missing at least 1 document. Only students in Grades 3-5 may try-out. Try-Outs Tonight: Volleyball--3:30-5:00 Basketball--5:00-7:00 Cheer--5:00-6:30

Thank you for your patience this afternoon. Buses were all at a minimum 15 behind due to their High School and Middle School runs. Students should be arriving home safely soon! I also want to especially thank the parent pick-up cars for working with us. Once we're in the swing of things, it'll be a much quicker process!

Please be patient with our bus drivers as they learn their routes here at the beginning of school. Some buses may run late. Our bus drivers are doing their best to get all students home safely!

Welcome Back, Lions! I hope everyone had a relaxing summer. We've had a great first day of school so far! I do have a few pieces of information to pass long before dismissal at 3:20pm. 1) Parent Pick-Up will continue to line up in 3 lines in the left hand parking lot until dismissed by a staff member to circle the building. Students will be loaded into cars under the awning as always. Please keep in mind that the first several days of school may have some hiccups, so be prepared to wait a little longer until everyone is in the swing of things. If you have your Parent Pick-Up number from last year, please continue to use that. If not, be prepared to show your ID in case you are asked. 2) If you have any transportation questions or changes for your child this afternoon, please contact the school office before 2:50pm. 3) Sports Try-Outs for grades 3-5 will begin tomorrow after school. All students are required to have a sports physical, a permission slip, and the CERP training for both student and parent. If you have missed the CERP sessions at GES, there will be one final session at Stratton Elementary this afternoon at 4pm.

Don't forget to join us for Open House tomorrow from 3-5 in the gym! Students who collect stickers from all 4 booths will receive a FREE Kona Ice! (Parents and siblings may purchase their own.) CERP training will also be offered for those interested in trying out for school sports at 3:30 and 4:15 in Room 14.

If your child is interested in trying out for sports (Grades 3-5), don't forget that the first of 3 CERP sessions begins at 6pm this evening at GES! Enter through the left hand main door and follow the signs. If you miss tonight's session, don't worry! We will have 2 sessions during Open House on August 21.
