Message 1/2--
Important announcement concerning Parent Pick-Up:
To be compliant with ADA federal guidelines, we are losing 5 staff parking spots in our lot. These will be converted into ADA parking spots. Because of this, some of our staff members will now have to park on the second row of spots in the left parking lot. What this means is we are losing our 3rd lane of our already crowded Parent Pick-Up waiting area.
We will now only have 2 Parent Pick-Up lanes. If lanes are full, you cannot enter the parking lot as you will block our buses from entering and exiting. You will have to wait up the road in another parking lot if allowed. You cannot line up along the side of Route 19.
Message 2/2--
Along with this major change, we ask that you do not line up for Parent Pick-Up until 2:45pm. Parent Pick-Up students are dismissed at 3:25, and you are typically able to drive right around the building with no wait by 3:35.
As a reminder, our GES policy states students cannot be signed out of school after 2:50 without prior approval by the principal or in cases of emergency.
I understand this is a big change and will cause some headaches. We are working to find a better solution, but with short notice, this is what we will do for now.
We will begin this today, Monday, October 14.
Tomorrow is the county Elementary Volleyball Tournament at Shady Spring High School! Our #5 Ghent Lions take on the Ridgeview Timberwolves at 11:00 am! Games run back-to-back, so times are approximate. Better to be early than late! (Admission is $5) LET'S GO LIONS!!

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on October 30th. No school for students on this day.
Each teacher will be hosting her own conferences with the exception of 5th Grade. Since 5th Grade is departmentalized, they will hold conferences together. You may also schedule a time to meet with Mrs. Daniels (P.E.) and Mrs. Adkins (Music).
Conference times are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. You may sign up for a time on our Facebook page (facebook.com/ghentelementary) or by scanning the QR codes on the flyer that will be coming home today.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
Phones are down in the school office. If you need to contact us, call 304-673-4744.
As of now, we are operating on a regular schedule with dismissal at our normal time of 3:20pm.
BUS 503 will not be able to run Flat Top Lake. He will have to let the students off at the gate.
Just a reminder that there is NO PRE-K tomorrow, Friday, September 27.
Bus 503 is loading now at GES.
BUS 248 has arrived at GES.
If you called for your child to go to Parent Pick-Up, they will remain in Parent Pick-Up.
Due to a car accident, BUS 267 and BUS 248 (meets BUS 218) are stuck at the moment. They have not completed their secondary runs. We do not have an estimate on when the road will be open for the buses to resume their routes. If you children ride either of these buses, please call the school if you wish to change their dismissal to Parent Pick-Up; otherwise, we will supervise the students until buses arrive.
Midterms were sent home Monday for grades 1-5. Midterms are located on page 11 of the student agenda. If you have not already done so, please review and sign.
There will be NO PRE-K on Friday, 9/27 due to county-wide Pre-K staff training.
ATTENTION PARENT PICK-UP: Please make sure your parent pick-up number is displayed CLEARLY in your windshield to assist with a smooth pick-up process. If you do not have a number, you need to be prepared with proper ID and contact the office ASAP for a replacement number.
