We are thrilled with our excellent attendance up to this point this year. As a reminder, please send an excuse with your child upon returning to school from an absence. You can send it with your child or upload to the link on our website. This includes doctor office excuses and parent notes. 5 days per semester can be marked excused with a parent note.
Monday starts our Fall Fundraiser! Students will be bringing home order catalogs and prize information. All proceeds go toward the PTO fund for teacher and student needs/incentives, Field Day, and other family events.
Ice cream sales are back! Starting September 19, every Friday (unless otherwise stated), students can purchase ice cream for $1. Ice cream is Smart Snack approved and dye free to meet WV guidelines. Proceeds go toward the GES General Fund.
There will be no Pre-K on Friday (9/12). This is a PK teacher training day. All K-5 students will have school.

The final CERP training is tonight at 5:30! Any 3-5 grader interested in sports must have had this training tonight or at Open House!
This is a reminder that ANY student in grades 3-5 who wants to tryout for volleyball, basketball, or cheerleading MUST attend a CERP training with a parent or guardian. If you were unable to attend CERP during Open House, the last CERP training will be Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 5:30pm here at GES. We will not be holding any more trainings after this.
Tryouts for Basketball and Cheerleading begin September 10, and Volleyball tryouts begin September 12.
Join us September 2 at 6pm for an informational meeting about the 3rd-5th grade Social Studies Fair! Students will have the opportunity to earn a FREE test grade and a dance party! Let's show Raleigh County what our students are made of!
Raleigh County Elementary Students who ride the bus will have a new accessory on their backpacks! Bus tags will be mandatory to remain on their backpacks. This helps our bus drivers, especially our substitute bus drivers, know which students should be getting off the bus at which stops, and if they are PK-3rd graders, that they need an adult at their bus stop. Teachers will be filling out the name, grade, and bus number on the tag, but we ask that you fill out the bus stop location. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the GES office or the Transportation office!

As with the start of any new school year, please be patient with our bus drivers as they learn their routes and students! It may take longer than usual.
