Tomorrow is Step-Up Day! Our 5th graders will be going to SSMS for the day. We forgot to send permission slips home until today, so PLEASE make sure you sign that tonight and return it tomorrow morning! Bus leaves at 8:40am. This is for 5th graders only!

Our annual Yearbook Signing Day is May 28! If you have a 2026 Yearbook, bring it that day. If you don't have one, we will have autograph sheets available. Everyone will have the opportunity to have anyone in the building sign their book or sheets.
If you'd like to purchase a 2026 Yearbook, we have 16 left for $25 each. First come, first serve.

Join us for a PTO meeting on May 13 at 8:30AM to discuss games & events for FIELD DAY! It is not mandatory for volunteers to attend, but we would appreciate any input you may have.
It IS mandatory that all Field Day volunteers be approved by the BOE.

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to Best Ambulance and The Tea Shack for donating our grand prizes for this year's WV General Summative Assessment! We have a total of 6 bikes, 5 scooters, and 2 skateboards! WOW! Students' names will be entered into the grand prize drawings each day of testing for meeting the following criteria:
1. Be On Time (Must be IN YOUR SEAT by 8:40 each morning)
2. Work Hard (Take your time, use your scratch paper when necessary, use the built-in tools)
3. No Disruptions (Stay quiet, stay in your seat, don't disrupt others who may still be working)
We will also have daily cash drawings for students who meet that criteria! Grand prize drawings will be on Monday!

Our Read-A-Thon is scheduled for May 20! Our students look forward to this day every year! To help us out, we are looking for donations of 8 oz. bottles of water for students to stay hydrated while they read. We need 180, but if we get more, we will use them on Field Day (May 29)! Again, if you are able to donate, we prefer the small, 8 oz. bottles. Thank you!

One of our favorite things about Ghent Elementary is that we're a community school! We love opening our playgrounds and fields after school hours to the community to play and exercise. Please help us keep our facilities and grounds in top shape! We've recently had some joyriders tearing up our grass in our upper field. Talk to your kids about respecting the property so we can keep it a safe, fun, and beautiful place for our students and community! Thank you!
